Little Raith Wind Farm
Little Raith Wind Farm is an exciting addition to Fife’s diverse energy industry. The first commercial wind farm to be consented in Fife is located approximately 1.3km to the east of Cowdenbeath and 1.3km to the south of Lochgelly, began production in November 2012
Little Raith comprises nine GE 2.75 MW turbines with a hub height of 75m and each has three rotor blades of 100 meters in diameter. This gives the turbines a full height of 125 meters to blade tip
The 24.75MW Wind Farm produces enough electricity to power 14,500 homes each year which is the equivalent of powering all homes in Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Lumphinnans and Ballingry for a year. This marks a significant step in reducing Fife’s carbon emissions by 25% by 2014.{
In October 2019, The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG) acquired the 25MW Little Raith wind farm in Scotland from Kennedy Renewables.
