On Thursday 27 February, Kennedy Renewables were delighted to welcome 13 visitors to Little Raith Wind Farm in Fife

Graham Pleasants, Colin Bell (Lecturer,) Liam Finlayson, Patrick Collins, Scott Paterson,
Robert Robson, Elliot Leigh.
The visitors comprised 12 students from Fife College whom are sponsored by Kennedy Renewables on a Wind Turbine Technicians (WTT) Course and they were accompanied by Fife College Lecturer, Colin Bell.
Completion of the WTT course will allow the students to go out in to the jobs market to seek opportunities to become Wind Turbine Technicians.
The opportunity to visit Little Raith was particularly exciting for the students as it afforded them the opportunity of going inside a wind turbine for the first time. And, as part of our continued support for Fife College, Kennedy Renewables has arranged for each student to work in the confines of a wind turbine for two weeks to give them hands on works experience in a real environment – something that they could only have previously dreamt about.
Said Kennedy Renewables Managing Director Jonny Kennedy “Kennedy Renewables is delighted to be working with Fife College. The students on our sponsored course are a credit to us and the College. They were buzzing when they came out of their first wind turbine and the opportunity that Kennedy Renewables has provided has allowed them to gain valuable experience in a working environment. Therefore, when they have completed the course and they are competing in the jobs market they will have a distinct advantage over other students as they will have gained actual hands on experience of working at height in an operational turbine and they will have experienced the day to day maintenance and repair of wind turbines. Due to Scotland taking the lead in the renewable energy sector in the UK there could be a skills shortage in Scotland in the next few years and the fantastic work that Fife College are doing in bringing in quality students combined with the opportunities that Kennedy Renewables can provide at Little Raith will help to fill the skills gap”
